If your suffer from weak, brittle nails which no amount of strengthening polish seems to fix, then IBX might well be the answer. SL headed to Josh Wood Atelier to put this intensive talon topper to the test…

What is it?
IBX is a curative gel combining a unique toughening agent with nourishing jojoba and avocado oil. It’s applied directly to your nails like a polish but what sets it apart is its penetrative properties – your nails are left to cure under an LED lamp for 30 seconds so that the formula can seep in and set.

What does it do?
It toughens your nail plate by fusing the upper layers together, immediately providing strength and protection from water (nail enemy number one, according to our therapist) and other environmental aggressors. Best of all, because it’s sealed into your talons, the effects last until nails have grown out completely.

How many treatments will I need?
At least three treatments are recommended every two to three weeks, but results can be felt from the first go. You can have a normal polish, gel or Shellac as usual afterwards so think of it as an add-on to your existing mani routine.

Our verdict?
Our nails felt instantly hardened, as if pulled together by a strengthening corset. Within two weeks, talons already felt noticeably thicker with less breakage and peeling. After trying just about every strengthening polish around, we may finally have found a way to keep damage under control.
